Upon building the dragon nest, you gain the ability to raise dragons. You may only have one dragon at a time, but all adult dragons have a natural desire to pass through the dimensional rift once you build it, providing you spirit essence and freeing up your nest to raise a new dragon. Dragons begin as eggs, and as you feed them they hatch and grow into powerful dragons. Each level of dragon provides a specific benefit in addition to unlocking a powerful dragon upgrade. To grow your dragon into each stage, you must feed the dragon a set amount of resources to unleash its potential and meet a set of requirements to unlock the next stage.

Sacrificing dragons (Edit)

Adult dragons have a natural desire to pass through the dimensional rift once you build it. Upon your dragon's passing through the dimensional rift, you will earn spirit essence equal to the cube root of your dragon's level divided by 10M, or, in mathematical notation, (level / 10M)(1/3). With the arcaneum, you can use the spirit essence to boost resource gain in six types of resources: basic (gold and mana), gems, raw materials (dirt, stone, coal, iron, and food), rare materials (steel, adamantium, flax, and dragonscale), hirelings, and essence (elemental essence only—not spirit). For each one point of spirit essence devoted to a resource type in the arcaneum, all resources within that type will receive a 10% boost in production. You will receive fractional spirit essence when sacrificing dragons to the dimensional rift, but you may only devote whole essences to boosting production in the arcaneum. The following chart shows how much spirit essence each adult dragon is worth prior to leveling it.
